This year,
we celebrate the 800th anniversary
of the death of St. Francis of Assisi.
Pope Leo has declared a Special Jubilee.
We at St. Raphael will seek to remember the “Little Poor Man” of Assisi this fall. St. Francis so loved Jesus that he abandoned his family’s wealth and honor to live a life in total conformity to Jesus Christ.
The spiritual descendents of St. Francis, like their spiritual father, have a special charism (or gift from the Holy Spirit) to love and care for the “least of these” (Matthew 25:40) – our brothers and sisters in need – as Jesus has called us to do.
It is this element of Franciscan spirituality that we will explore together in honor of the jubilee year.
